The Journey Towards a New Region
The memory of how the Los Ríos Region was born.
“El Viaje Hacia Una Nueva Región” (“The Journey Towards a New Region”) is a documentary about the historical process, the persistent citizens’ campaign and the legislative path that led to the creation of the Los Ríos Region, whose capital is Valdivia. It preserves the collective memory of the local social and political movement that fought for autonomy and administrative decentralization from the former Los Lagos Region.
It was a film project developed by the telecommunications company VTR and the Valdivia-based production company ATV, with the support of the Municipality of Valdivia, and made by ATV Valdivia. It premiered on 9 April 2008 at the Teatro Cervantes in Valdivia.
Our work
Editing was by Mauricio Espinoza, of NUBE: reviewing footage, selecting fragments, connecting events with testimonies, and building a clear narrative out of audiovisual sources.
